# Stage 112 — Homeowner tax-response audit

## Decision

Do not narrow the stage-110 response grid or change simulation parameters. Complete the source-specific review and return to the thesis question with explicit sensitivity frontiers.

## Extract and uncertainty

The structured [audit ledger](data/metadata/homeowner_tax_audit_v112.json) records the pinned source, design, denominator, outcome, two selected estimates and standard errors. It distinguishes direct measurement from extrapolation. Selected sections and table entries were reviewed; no replication was performed.

Normal-approximation intervals in the ledger are our calculations, not intervals transcribed from the paper. The alternative specification’s interval includes zero. That is weaker precision, not evidence of an exactly zero response or a formal test that the two specifications differ.

## Mapping to MacroVision

| Required mapping | Assessment | Consequence |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Broad spending versus a financed durable purchase | Unresolved | Do not insert the coefficient into q. |
| Realized versus desired consumption | Unresolved | Keep behavioral response separate from the cash constraint. |
| Mortgage/home equity versus model asset ownership | Unresolved | Do not assign the result to the owners cohort. |
| Annual endpoint versus recurring twenty-year policy | Unresolved | Do not repeat a one-year coefficient mechanically. |
| Tax change versus the associated wealth channel | Different experiment | Retain the model’s conditional interpretation. |
| Cross-group evidence versus calibrated group differences | Insufficient mapping | Do not impose an empirical ranking on q profiles. |

These are model-comparability judgments. They do not invalidate the source’s own research design or identify the best financing policy.

The useful lesson for our accounting is to measure purchasing power, cash shortages, debt accumulation and payment arrears separately. A household can preserve spending temporarily while becoming financially fragile. Conversely, a spending cut alone does not measure default.

## Research consequence

Another literature note alone will not answer when automation, lower prices and transfers preserve purchasing power. The next numerical step is a break-even frontier using the existing financing experiment: for each tax allocation and payment schedule, show which declared q values permit funded transfers and preserve a specified displaced-household consumption floor.

That frontier must distinguish annual spending from cumulative spending, use a matched external-financing control, retain failed-funding cases, and label every threshold as conditional on fixed prices and incomes. It should report a range rather than select an unsupported central q. Define the numerical grid and acceptance checks before running it.

## Publication checks

Ledger intervals recomputed from the recorded inputs; flags confirm unchanged parameters and a closed calibration gate. Existing repository CI is the merge gate. This stage adds documentation and public assets only.
